Smooth gel roller ball writing makes this pen highly sought after, but the difficulty in getting the pen and its refills make it a rare commodity. Pen writes in a 0.5 mm line and comes in four maple wood body colors. Blue and black ink refills available here!

Smooth and confident..., February 8, 2009
Smooth and confident feel on the paper when writing. Ink lines are smooth and solid with no gaps. The Maple wood body feels great in my fingers when writing, and the black body version looks attractive with the silver matte hardware and subtle wood grain highlights showing up in a brightly lit office or room. I have had a few people comment on this pen. It is now my full time writer and I also use it for sketching in my nature journal. It's a keeper.

Lovely pen, nice weight and good feel to the barrel. Haven't had it long enough to reveal any drying-out problems, but the current AG Spalding-labelled refill is going strong.

I find the teeny-tiny smooth cap hard to get off, and, honestly, looks just a little plasticky next to the rest of the fittings on the pen. But it looks sooo good when it's posted.

This is a handsome pen that writes beautifully - nice smooth dark lines. However, I was disappointed that the refill listed on Jetpens for this pen is a "Uniball" refill and not a "A. G. Spalding & Bros" refill - which is what is marked on the ink cartridge that is inside the pen when it arrived. I tried out the "Uniball" refill - seems to write just as well, but I wish it was from Spalding anyway... For this this pen loses a star.

By the way the Ohto ceramic rollerball refills fit this pen perfectly too.

I loved this pen when I first received it but then..... the ink quite writing. I purchased three refills both the Uniball and the original and they just stop writing after a few days. i keep the pen capped when not in use and store it with the tip down so the ink doesn't run backwards but that still hasn't helped. I am very disappointed with this pen. It looks nice but doesn't write very long. Not recommended at all.
