I ordered this pen along with a Pelikan converter and the pairing is great.
There is no hesitation with ink flow and the aesthetically the pen is beautiful.
The orange wood grain mates well with the aluminium it gives the pen a weighty
feel. I prefer to use it posted, and the cap snaps on tight. A great value.

Probably my most favorite pen I own. I have 2 I use them every day for note
taking and general all around writing. They write as smooth as the $180 pen I
got as a gift. They are also good looking enough that people often ask where
they can get one. I alway reply www.jetpens.com. Also your website ROCKS!

I really enjoyed the aesthetics of this pen. But I was hesitant at first to
purchase it because it is manufactured by a sporting good company that isn't
necessarily known for their quality. The limited reviews online of this pen also
made me slightly hesitant as well.
However, I was pleasantly surprised. As a left hander not every fountain pen
works well for me; but this pen actual works great. It has a good design and the
construction is actually top notch. I purchased the Pelikan C499 Fountain
converter with it, and it fits great as if it was made for this pen; It provided
no problems while providing excellent ink flow. I have used a variety of inks
with this pen and the pen handles them all with no problem. The nib provides a
beautifully balanced medium nib that flows very smoothly on copy, notebook, and
expensive paper that I have tried it on.
It writes first time every time with no flow problems. Another concern of mine
was the wood appears to be slick as glass in the photos on the site, and I
thought that it would be a slippery pen and hard to use; but it actually is not.
It has a light shine to the wood but the wood still feels like wood and provides
a good amount of grip so the pen will not slip from your hands, even after long
use. The metal on the pen feels of good quality and is thick.
The cap has a nice firm snap to it when taken off or placed on the pen. Overall
all of my concerns for the pen diminished upon receiving it and using it. It
flushes easily, it writes great. It has a great feel to it. It writes great and
has a really excellent build quality. It is now my everyday pen and it writes
flawlessly every time.

Very Happy.
I have wanted this pen since I first discovered JetPens last year. I also
purchased a bottle of Platinum Blue/Black and the Pelikan converter
recommended on the product description.
I got an email from customer service telling me the converter was not available.
Elizabeth in customer service helped me select the Kaweco universal converter.
It works great. The pen along with the Platinum ink writes immediately, smooth
(no skipping), and doesn't scratch. It was everything I hoped for.
JetPens, as always THANK YOU for your exceptionally fast shipping and your
excellent customer service. Thank you Elizabeth!

Ordered this pen from Canada and it arrived in only about a week (and that was
with regular shipping). Absolutely love the pen, nice wood body and beautiful
nib. Cap is very sturdy and the overall quality is fantastic. Love it!

Wow, what a great pen for the money! This pen always gets compliments when I'm
writing with it--which is often. The nib is good, solid and smooth, and the pen
is well-balanced for me. Haven't had any problems with skipping or scratchiness.
My only beef is the somewhat cheesy manufacturer's mark on the cap. Could be
more subtle and definitely takes away from the attractiveness of the pen. The
burnt orange color is great!

I love this pen - though it is a tiny bit scratchy, it is reliable and sturdy.
It never skips! I carry this around in my bag and the cap is tight enough the
pen doesn't fall out of it. I personally like a pen that is back heavy so for me
the posting weight distribution is good - but if you don't like that weight at
the end of the pen you may not like it. I use this in my moleskin and I find the
Levenger ink to work better in this than the Retro 51 cartridges I was using. It
feels warm and smooth in my hand, my fingers find their spot easily and
comfortably. This pen is a great deal and makes a great sketching pen. I highly
recommend it!

Attractive, well made, fine tipped pen. The body is light but the cap is heavy
to post. The pen is 4.75 inches without the cap, which is a little small for me.
Comes in a simple box. Fits 2 standard carts back to back.

A.G. Spalding & Bros BRFT220 Fountain Pen - Medium Nib - Maple Wood - Beige Body
This is my second FP...the first was 30 yrs. ago in college. This is a heavy
pen. With the cap snapped to the back in writing position, it's quite back
heavy. I find myself writing with the cap setting on the counter most of the
time due to the back weight it creates. This is the second one of these for me.
The first clogged up after 60 days of daily use and could not be made to work
properly no matter what cleaning method I used. JetPens came to the rescue and
replaced it. Great! customer service here.
Against what has been said by others, I'm not sure this would be my first FP of
choice. The Med. nib is actually quite broad. If I were starting out, I would
want something lighter and more balanced. The ink flow is good but this
replacement will stop flowing properly if you stop writing for more than 20 sec.
Something the first one I got did not do. You could lay it down, answer the
phone, then go right back to writing, no problem.
Quality of fit and finish are top notch for such a reasonably priced pen. And as
most have said, the cap snaps on quite firmly. Maybe to much so. I got the Maple
version because I just finished a cabinet project using Maple... seemed logical.
Don't shy away from getting this pen. It's quite pleasing to the eye and is an
'average' writer. I'm actually going to see if I can reshape the nib to be
finer and smoother or replace it altogether if possible. Until then, it puts ink
to paper to the best of my limited penmanship abilities.

A.G. Spalding & Bros BRFT208 Mini Fountain Pen - Fine Nib - Silver Body
This is a great tiny pen. It fits into my jeans pocket like a dream, and starts
and writes well every time. The cap snaps on firmly, with an audible click and I
do not worry about it coming off in my pocket.
There are two issues with this pen that I am not totally satisfied with. One is
that the section seems to like to come unscrewed from the barrel while it is in
my pocket. It has never come completely out, but i have found it to be loose on
occasion. The 2nd is that it seems like when you snap on the cap a bit of ink
sprays out into the cap and on the nib from the concussion of the cap snap. The
nib simply does not stay clean.
All in all, these two problems do not cause me to stop carrying the pen, it is
my go to pen for everyday carry.

I enjoy the look and feel of this pen. It wright smoothly but could use a finer
nib.
I also enjoy how you can see the wood grains, combine that with a little ware on
the finish and no two pens look like.
I would recommend this pen for those who are staring out with fountain pens.
side note: wood feels warmer than metal, which I like.

A.G. Spalding & Bros BRFT208 Mini Fountain Pen - Fine Nib - Silver Body
My friend purchased me this adorable little pen and I absolutely love it! The
small size is ideal for on the go and I can practically fit it anywhere. Also,
the minimalistic design makes it a very nice low profile pen, for someone that
wants to avoid carrying their nicer flashier pens, making this pen perfect for
traveling.
The nib is very smooth and writes very well.
This pen is perfect for anyone looking for a small, low-profile pen that they
can carry with them all the time. Just grab this pen and a couple cartridges and
you're set!

A.G. Spalding & Bros BRFT208 Mini Fountain Pen - Fine Nib - Silver Body
I have just received and tested my pen. From cap to barrel and nib, this pen
deserves some attention. Being a "mini" one, it is smaller than average ones and
to me, it´s a good feature - a matter of personal taste, nothing more.
It´s made of aluminium, is extremely light and despite not having any
adornment, looks good and fits discretely in any pocket.
Mine came with a cartridge of black ink, and this specimen wrote a nice flow of
wet line, so smoothly on plain paper, turning cursive writing a breeze. The nib
is another thing to pay attention to: good looking, well polished, shiny metal.
The cap fits with a "click" at the writing end and at the back end, slips
smoothly.
Even the package is worthy of note: seems to be made of recycled cardboard,
denoting a commitment to a safe environment. Nice attitude.
All in all, I think this pen is a good one and fulfills its promise. If you do
like small pens, try this one.
I know that personal tastes do exist and trying to satisfying everyone is an
almost impossible task, but to me, it seems to be perfect for a day-to-day
writing, even to go to school and write down your annotations.
My next step will be to test it with Noodler´s Eel series. The writing
experience must be even better. Good writing!

A.G. Spalding & Bros BRFT220 Fountain Pen - Medium Nib - Maple Wood - Beige Body
It took months of research to find a new daily writer - I finally settled on
this one and I'm glad I did. I've been using it for a little over a month and
can't put it down. The ink always starts flowing immediately (or with a little
coaxing after it's been sitting open for awhile) and there is never any
skipping. The wood body is a nice touch as well - it's never cold like some
metallic bodied pens - and it adds a somewhat rustic look to the otherwise
modern design. This has quickly replaced several others as my daily writer.
The one small complaint I've had, and have heard from other people, is that the
cap is too heavy when it's posted. It's true, but it really hasn't been a
problem, the cap just sits on the table while writing. This pen is weighted
wonderfully and it fits so well in the hand without the cap, there's no need to
post it.
On an ink level, it does come with a cartridge - and has room to carry a spare
inside - but I never used it because I immediately switched to the Kaweco
Standard Converter and use J. Herbin Inks - a personal preference, but one that
has made this pen a joy to use.
It's a great buy and I recommend it to anyone.

This is my first fountain pen and I bought it with a converter so I can use my
choice of inks. I have been very happy with this pen. Ink flow is very good
while writing and still doesn't blob up when you pause in your writing for a sec
without lifting the nib. Great pen for the price and no negatives so far.

I have a thing for small pens that perform well and love this little pen. I did
not buy it from here but should have since they have the fine nib, which must be
great and toward XF, since my medium writes reasonably fine. Such a cutie, yet
also sort of vintage looking due to the lettering on it, the NY address, and the
removable clip. It takes a regular short cartridge, which you can refill from a
bottle if you have a syringe (now legal to buy in most places, I think; saves on
plastic waste if you refill).
The clip works well to clip the pen to a lapel, and the short size of the body
won't poke you. Makes a great pocket pen too, as many here have said. I have
seen these for sale for up to $50 in stores, so the price here is a decent one.
This pen was even reviewed in Pen World magazine years ago, and they usually
only review fancy expensive pens. So others have been charmed by its cuteness
and high function as well.

This review is from
A.G. Spalding & Bros BRFT208 Mini Fountain Pen - Fine Nib - Silver Body
A very nice little pen, which I carry in a shirt pocket (usually a pocket T).
The fine nib is not as fine as I expected, but I can still write small enough to
use a pocket notebook. It's a fairly wet writer, too, which probably means I'll
go through those small international cartridges fairly fast. After trying the
one that came with it, I flushed it out with a syringe and water, and then
refilled it with an ink I prefer. Not too big a hassle, but when you refill
cartridges like this, they will eventually wear out from being popped in and
out, and you'll have to start on a new one. I suppose some compromise is
necessary with these mini pens, but if they made a mini-converter for these, it
would be worth it.
Some issues brought up by other reviewers. Yes the barrel does have a tendency
to start coming unscrewed, and I check it periodically. I've also noticed the
little spots of ink on the nib, and figure you just have to live with it. I like
the fact that the pocket clip is on there tightly, as I can't think of any
reason I'd want it to come off. I do, however, have a secondhand anecdote of
someone who lost theirs because they had it clipped to an outside pocket on a
bag, and it eventually worked loose.
