I used this to draw with. The ink is good and black, surprised me. Also, not so easy to smear once dried and also fairly waterproof (maybe not 100%, but very good). With a little bit of effort, you can get very thin lines or semi-thick lines. I am more of a pen person, so I could not draw smaller drawings with this pen as I would like, I had to keep the drawings larger or else I would loose control of my line. If you are good with a brush, this may be a good pen for you -- I would certainly recommend trying it. UNLESS, you expect the ink to be very watercolor like and easily mixed, then you will be disappointed, but if you want an out line pen that won't easily run when watercolor brushes over it, this will work for you.

It's a very nice brush pen, but I didn't find its "watercolor" properties to be all that present or outstanding. There are other fountain pen inks available that are more water soluble than the ink in this brush pen. But that might just be due to it being black. For getting interesting gradient effects, I felt like I had to put a lot of effort and use a great deal of water to do so. Otherwise, the ink remained quite dark. For all the effort, I think just using a regular sumi ink or watercolor paint would be a better use of my time.

Still, this is a nice disposable brush pen, with a great range of line-widths. When the ink dries, it's very opaque, and I would say it's darn near waterproof. While not functioning quite the way I wanted it to based on the description, I would still keep this with my watercolor kit for adding detail. If this were refillable and at the same price, I'd give it five stars.
A great brush pen all...

A great brush pen all around. 5 stars.
Gives a generally bluer/greyer black (than Kuretake no.33 brush marker, or the Akashiya Sai Pigment Brush Pen for example).
One of the best brush...

One of the best brush pens I own. It has a phenomenal character and allows for a multitude of line weights. The tip has stayed sharp much longer than the Pigma Sakura and Le Pen brands I have tried in the past.
