This pad features 60 sheets of fine-tooth, 160 g, acid-free mixed media paper. The paper is ideal for use with watercolor, gouache, and acrylic techniques as well as markers and virtually all dry media. Twin-ring binding allows the cover and pages to be folded back, letting the pad lie flat.

I know it says in it's...

I know it says in it's description that it's pretty good with Watercolors & Acrylic, but it really... isn't. The paper warps into waves a bit when you put too much water on it, and tends to only hold up to gentle watercolor usage. And Lord help you if you try and use it for acrylics - the heavier your paint, the more likely it will curl.

That being said, I love using it for Inks & Makers. The pens I've used on it (Fabercastell, Mircon, & Prisma artist pens, plus Papermate Flairs) don't bleed through at all, and both crayola and coptic markers can be used without seeing the drawing on the other side. The only thing that bleeds through are sharpie makers, but that was kind of expected (I haven't tried the sharpie pens on it though). Otherwise, 60 sheets can turn into 120 pages worth of front & back maker drawings, which makes it a good value.

The paper is smooth enough for pen usage, and has enough tooth in it that colored pencils work just fine on it. It's also a brilliant bleach white that might hurt your eyes if you're sensitive to that kind of thing, but gives nice contrast to any color you put on it.

Overall, it's a good sketchbook, but not a great multimedia sketchbook. I like to buy it in bulk at other places since it's cheaper, but it's not a bad purchase if you bought 10$ worth of pens here and want free shipping.

Before jetpens carried...

Before jetpens carried this pad, I used it a lot as my go-to copic paper. It definitely brings out the color better than the actual copic brand paper, but it bleeds through to the other side, and if you don't isolate the page, to the page below the one you're using copics on. It's actually pretty rough, and for those who prefer that in a paper, then this is for you...
But over this, I prefer the Strathmore mixed media pad, it's a lot more smooth, larger, and while offering less sheets per pad, works much better for pencil sketching, calligraphy, inking, brush pens, and last but not least copic markers.

I've used this sketchbook a lot before JetPens had it in stock. The paper is sturdy and incredibly smooth so it's perfect for mixed media as it is its purpose. You might have a bit of trouble if you use too much ink as it does bleed through (but only if you used a really generous amount). This is my go to sketchbook for when I can't decide what medium I'll be using in the coming months.
