This ink is the darkest...
May 23, 2014
This ink is the darkest of the Diamine browns and also the most lightfast in my tests. It is readily moved around on sized paper with water, so it is great for drawing. The color is lovely, a deep mahogany brown, ranging to nearly black when heavier. I always have it along for writing and drawing. I like its mobility with water, but if you want a water-risistant ink, this should not be your choice.

I like it the best of any of the Diamine browns, and it is deeper and more lightfast than any of the others.

This is the richest brown...

Verified Purchase
This is the richest brown by my favorite ink brand. I have not found a better flowing ink for fountain pens and dipping pens at this price. The Macassar resembles the richest tones of Macassar Ebony wood. It has one of the most unique characteristics in Diamine's selection to make your writing stand out. I use this for writing my class notes with a dipping pen. This ink makes ordinary notes stand out with more color than a black ink and higher contrast than most all colors. Diamine Macassar is my favorite writing ink.
