I'm not a fan of green inks, but this is one of two that I use consistently (the other is Rohrer & Klingner's Alt-Goldgrun). This is a little darker than the R&K and it is an interesting color...Salamander is the perfect name for this green. I wouldn't all it a lovely ink, but it is certainly an interesting color and I enjoy writing with it. It is a well behaved ink with some subtle shading. When it's dry, I can see shades of brown and dark yellows. Altogether, another great offering from Diamine.

All the good flow properties expected of a Diamine ink. The color comes out on average quality paper (with a medium point) as an interesting grayish green with slight tinges of yellow.

When I ordered this from the site, it was called "Salamander Black," so I thought it would be darker, like Noodler's Zhivago. But I'm actually happy with the color as it is, which is kind of a dark khaki-olive. It looks black at first glance when you use an extra-fine nib, at least until you put it near actual black ink. Using a wider nib will yield more of the khaki-olive hue.

It's kind of a mysterious near-black that way. And the shading on it is gorgeous! It might not have been what I was first expecting, but it's one of my favorite inks so far!
