Wow this eraser is great! It erases with so much less pressure than any other
eraser I have ever used (sorry Boxy but this is to good). Instead of having a
bunch of shavings spread all over your paper like the Boxy, these shavings clump
up into one strand and stick to the eraser! Its way better than a boxy plus its
only a little more in $ more than a tiny boxy but so much longer! My Boxy
definitely got replaced!

Great eraser. The shavings do collect around the eraser so it's less messy. I
also find that this eraser is not that abrasive on the paper.

Nice shape, but too soft!
This guy finds place in any pencase because it's that slim. But it's so soft! I
expected it to be much harder. It's even softer than those white Erasers you
have here. Maybe I'm just not used to it. Besides of that it's a great product.

Just average from my perspective.
This eraser is good enough for its intended purpose. My main reason for not
giving it higher marks relates to its consistency. I found that it was a bit too
soft for my tastes. It felt a little too mushy if I really needed to get on top
of darker writing. The "Boxy" and "Ain" erase just as well, if not better, and
have much more solid feel.

I bought one of these after reading the review that stated it was better than
Boxy. I have used it a few times, but it is softer than the boxy, and doesn't
erase colored pencil as well as my boxy does. I would say that it erases pencil
as well as my boxy does, but I'd be hard pressed to choose between the two which
erases pencil better. So... while this eraser is surely a worthy contender, it's
not the first eraser I reach for on my desk.

Sold Out?!!! Horror!
I have tried many erasers in my work. Any new design, any new material, any new
device ... if I see it I have to try it. And I give you my word that this
eraser is by far the very best that I have tried. Good lord, it even erased
color pencil markings which was incredible.
I just wish that the same polymer came in precision erasers for erasing very
small areas since I usually use a 0.3 mm Pentel pen with the new 2B Stein leads
and write very small. But this is absolutely incredible.
Try it NOW! You will be extremely satisfied.

Hinodewashi Matomaru-kun Eraser - Paper Rolled
I am very pleased with this eraser, it's quite practical. If you're the type of
person that writes with fair to medium pressure, Matomaru-kun erases with
extreme ease, you just have to lightly go over the area and the pencil marks
completely dissapear! If, however, you write with a lot of pressure to the point
where you make slight indentations in the paper, Matomaru-kun will erase ~98% of
the pencil markings (erasing takes more force), it leaves a slight trace of the
markings where the indentations in the paper occur. This trace is not very
noticable, however, the heavy erasure causes the paper surrounding the eraser
to dig into to eraser, so if you tend to erase very heavily, this action might
cause the paper to make a significant cut into the side of the eraser.
As for the clumping action of the eraser debris, I have found that it is very
minimal with my HB pencil lead, but it works like a dream with my photo-blue 2B
pencil lead. All of the debris clumps together with the softer lead.
As for the size of the eraser, it is quite short (~3 inches), but it lasts a
while. The eraser is about 1cm wide, if you're looking to erase fine details,
this probably isn't right for you. The white plastic part on the back of the
eraser came off on mine (because I was messing with it :P), but it stayed in
place once I put it back. The clear cap for the eraser sticks right onto the
back white piece, so it is quite useful.

Hinodewashi Matomaru-kun Eraser - Medium
This is one of the best erasers I've ever had. I love the design and the fact
that it erases dark lines from my pencils easily! I also love how it retains all
the shavings at the edge for easy clean up, although its tempting to pick at the
edges and make a mess lol.
The only con I have for this eraser is that I thought it was going to be
slightly larger. I purchased both the large and the medium sizes and the large
is really huge and I stacked the medium in the corner and its not even half the
size of the large one. Its probably about 1/4th the size of the large one. I
feel like this one should be called a small instead of medium. Either way I
still love this eraser.

Hinodewashi Matomaru-kun Eraser - Medium
Best eraser I ever used! I draft sewing patterns and I need to erase and rewrite
alot. This eraser leaves NO smudging or tearing. It erases very cleanly and
smooth. Also the black version of this eraser does a great job too.

Hinodewashi Matomaru-kun Eraser - Medium - Black
I've been spoiled by good erasers.
I'll be comparing this eraser to the Boxy and the Pilot Foam erasers:
While the description says that this eraser clumps its dust together to make
cleanup easy, the Foam does it exceptionally well compared to this. Maybe I
wasn't erasing correctly (yes, depending on how you erase, the bits will clump
together better or worse), but the clumping wasn't so great. After quite a bit
of erasing, I was stuck with fewer bits than the Boxy, which doesn't clump at
all, but a lot more than the Foam, which produced one single eraser strip as
waste.
Also, this eraser doesn't seem to erase as well with a light touch. The Boxy and
the Foam all seemed to absorb the graphite, while this simply produced a
would-be piece of eraser hanging off a corner. I found myself straining to erase
large art projects with just as many eraser bits as the Black Pearl (regular,
American eraser).
The eraser is squishier than the Foam and the Boxy, so it gets my mind off of my
work (so maybe it doubles as a stress reliever?). The cardboard does dig into
the eraser, but I don't have any problems with the cardboard digging into the
eraser and causing it to fall apart as I've read on some reviews of the Foam (a
problem I never really had with my Foam, though). I guess the plus to this
eraser is that it comes in more varieties and colors to suit your style.
But--the logo on the front faded pretty easily after a bit of brisk use.
Bottom line, this eraser is great compared to the regular erasers you find
around the US, but if you're going to upgrade your eraser on Jetpens, I would go
with the Foam. Not saying this eraser is bad, but the Foam is better at clumping
and is easier to handle because of its stiffness. Since they're both the same
price for .7oz, why not? But if you want to have a little taste tester with all
three, then go ahead. The Matomaru won't disappoint.

Hinodewashi Matomaru-kun Eraser - Paper Rolled
This eraser is AMAZING! I was previously using the Staedtler Mars plastic eraser
and I really liked it because it was able to erase lines incredibly well. The
downside, however, was the fact that my desk was always flooded with eraser
shavings by the end of my note-taking. This eraser, however, doesn't do that AND
it is erases just as well (if not better!) than the Staedtler. I don't think
that I'll be buying any other eraser from here on out!
