This is a gorgeous, deep blue with a teeny hint of indigo in it. Very saturated, very wet. It does NOT have a sheen like the Rouge Hematite but it still quite lovely - I don't regret getting a bottle at all :)

A very smooth, fluid ink with very little shading, leaning a bit towards purple tones. Not a highly saturated ink, and is easy to clean out of pens. This is a very pleasing blue, and the packaging is lovely.

Not NEARLY as good of an ink overall as Rouge Hematite. It's certainly a very deep blue—if not a full-on blue/violet—but has no sheen. It's just a very saturated, dark dark blue; nothing you can't get from Diamine for half the price. Just can't help feeling that I paid for the bottle and packaging rather than the ink (just like a feel every time I buy a bottle of Iroshizuku…)

I ordered my 18 year old son the J. Herbin 1670 anniversary fountain pen ink and the bottle was beautiful and exactly what I expected!

The pictures just don't show how beautiful the bottle is. I ordered two of these, and two of the rouge hematite (one of each for me, one of each as a gift). I am sad to say, however, that BOTH of my bleu ocean inks had leaks in the box, yet I couldn't locate where it was coming from (the bottle wasn't wet, there were no cracks, the seal was intact, strange...). Since I couldn't actually find a leak, I can't dock a star. It's beautiful, and I got a sneak peak of the color of the ink in-box before using I guess!
The color is hard to describe, it is very unique. It is so different than other blue inks, the same goes with J. Herbin's forget-me-not blue (in the heart-shaped bottle). I think each individual penstroke offers something different.
