Kiss your paper with lush ink colors created by the French. Each 30 ml bottle has a unique rectangular shape that doubles as a pen rest. Pens can balance on the flat area on the top of the bottle near the cap. These bottles are known as \"D bottle pen inks\". The “D” refers to the old French unit of measure “la Demi Courtine”.

J. Herbin was established in 1670 and is the oldest name in formal ink production in the world. It is the ink namesake used by renowned figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Victor Hugo of Les Miserables. M. Herbin created this line, “The Jewel of Inks”, in his shop on the Rue des Fosses Saint-Germain in Paris in 1700. Capture a moment of history with these high-quality inks from J. Herbin at JetPens.

I am not happy with this...

I am not happy with this ink; I wanted it for a Lamy F, but it's too dry and pale. I put it in my Lamy Safari EF and it's better, as that pen is more of a wet writer and so it lays down more pigment, but I don't use my EF as often; I write extensively each day with my Lamy Fs and wanted to use this ink for that, but it's just too hard on the eyes. I have heard some say it looks like graphic markings, and I have to agree, looks like I've written the page in pencil. I will finish this bottle in my EF, but don't think I'll be ordering this again. Ah well. :(

I love this particular color for drawing on Cachet Recycled Sketch Book paper. It's the same middle tan color as the paper only a few shades darker. It appears as more of a warm mid to dark grey than brown. Think of the 'french grays' and this is no surprise coming from J.Herbin! I love J. Herbin inks and this color is one of my top favorites!

It's lighter than many brown inks, especially dry, but not so light that it's illegible. I'll finish this bottle, but try for a darker brown next time around. It's one of my first J. Herbin inks, but not my last.
