I have a lot of expectations with this ink... but isn't saturated enough.

A great ink for dipping pens. I never knew there would be such a difference using the right kind of ink instead of typical fountain pen inks with dip pens. Nice bright yellow.

I would also like to point out that there is one other review and the person had never used the product and has nothing to add in order to help you make an informed buying decision. Instead they did damage to a perfectly great product from an equally great company. The rating system is now meaningless for this product becasue it is a 5 star product and will be rated 4 stars at best.

*It is important for people to understand what the review process is for. If you do not understand why on line retailers have this feature I advice you take some time to learn about the philosophy. It is not a difficult concept to understand and it has the potential to be very helpful to consumers especially of new products they are thinking about trying. Please take it serious and respect the rest of the community by not leaving anything other than honest reviews of products you have personally had experience with. There is not other reason for anything else to be written and rated in the review section anywhere on Jetpens. They have awesome customer service and are very responsive to emails. SO if you need something just email them and I promise you it will be dealt with much quicker than writing on the review board.

Totally agree! The pearly stuff just sinks to the bottom of the jar.

I want to like this ink because the color is so beautiful. But the pearlescent effect depends on some iridescent powder (or whatever) mixed in with the green ink, and this pearly stuff just sinks to the bottom of the jar. the instructions do say "shake well before using" but I shook verrrry well and the pearly stuff remained in a sludgy layer at the bottom. I even stirred the ink from the bottom up with a wooden coffee stirrer, but the pearly sludge only came up in a single chunk that refused to disperse and did not mix with the green ink. I had a little better luck getting the blue version of this ink to work, but Apple Green and Coral both refused to cooperate.
I did try the improperly mixed inks with my dip nibs and it was very smooth & a nice color...but without the pearlescent effect, its merely green ink :-/

This stuff is really watery to the point where it doesn't stay too well with a nib, and when you start writing with it, you THINK it's somewhat white, but the moment it dries on darker paper it suddenly fades about 5 shades. Even shaking the bottle vigorously does nothing.

This ink is not for fountain pens and it required an extreme heat (ie: stove or hot halogen light) to make this invisible ink to be visible. I thought the ink will be visible from the heat of my finger such as the one in some check book, but it doesn't. I have to put the paper directly under my halogen table light for 7-10 seconds to change this ink into a blue shade. Not worth the money.

In spite of the previous bad review, I had heard so many good things about this ink being "bold and black," I had to try it for myself. It's an incredibly smooth-writing ink. After using the same nib awhile, I could write about four lines of rapid cursive on a single good dip. And it has an oddly floral scent. But it's not an "intense" black in any sense of the word, on either a smooth or a toothy paper, and even a very wet line is no darker than charcoal grey. I'm almost tempted to buy a bottle from another source to see if it's any blacker. I'll be interested to see if this ink darkens over time the way Diamine Registrar's ink goes from blue-black to black. I'll try to remember to amend my review if, in a week or two, I have a page of rich black writing instead of the dark grey it is now. It gets extra points in my rating for its history and reputation for being long lasting, because I like that sort of thing.

Like noted in the other two reviews the "pearlescent" was a goop at the bottom. However even after I succesfully got it mixed with the ink I found it did not want to write very well, by the time I had written three letters the ink stopped flowing becasue the "pearlescent" part of the ink remained on the nib. Its very pretty in the bottle and once it is on the paper. Far to time consuming to keep using.

The ink is great. After it dries the ink is pitch black, has a shine to it, and it is a little raised on the paper!

Personally I love this ink. I have tried countless 'black' inks over a span of 20-something years. I know which inks to use if I want absolute black. But I was looking for something not quite black. I had an early american colonial period in mind. The kind of ink one used with a feather quill and may have been considered black in color. These black inks always seemed to me to be more of a faded-rustic black. And if that is also what your looking for, here it is! This ink lived up to every expectation of mine including its wonderful flow. It works great in my Pelikan fountain pens, however my dip pen and this ink were made for each other. I may just pick up a real feather quill and give it a go! Excellent ink!

I must say, I was very disappointed in this ink. It's incredibly watery... just about unusable. I think the preservative:ink ratio is drastically off. I have pens that can go a good paragraph without dipping; with this ink, I can barely write a sentence... the ink is so thin it just slips off the pen. I'm having trouble understanding how it's supposed to be legible for 300 years when it can barely last till it dries.

Could you post writing samples of these inks please?!
