I love this particular color for drawing on Cachet Recycled Sketch Book paper. It's the same middle tan color as the paper only a few shades darker. It appears as more of a warm mid to dark grey than brown. Think of the 'french grays' and this is no surprise coming from J.Herbin! I love J. Herbin inks and this color is one of my top favorites!

I wrote a review two...

I wrote a review two days ago but I'd like to amend what I wrote; I don't see a way to edit my already-published review. I consider myself still a novice to fountain pens, and some of my problem with the Cacao du Bresil is that I was trying to use what is a fairly dry ink in a dry-writing pen, which is why I was unhappy with the way it imparted so little pigment on the page, like writing lightly with a pencil. My Pilot Metropolitan is what I would call a "wet writer" and so I put the CDB in that, and I'm much happier with the result. So try it in some different pens!

I am not happy with this...

I am not happy with this ink; I wanted it for a Lamy F, but it's too dry and pale. I put it in my Lamy Safari EF and it's better, as that pen is more of a wet writer and so it lays down more pigment, but I don't use my EF as often; I write extensively each day with my Lamy Fs and wanted to use this ink for that, but it's just too hard on the eyes. I have heard some say it looks like graphic markings, and I have to agree, looks like I've written the page in pencil. I will finish this bottle in my EF, but don't think I'll be ordering this again. Ah well. :(
