Lovely red, I was hoping to put this in a fountain pen I received as a gift but it comes out a bit light for what I was looking for. It's a beautiful soft almost pastel red without appearing pink. Four stars because it was lighter than I expected, but it's still really lovely. After reading the reviews I tested it in my dip pen and it was much bolder, I'm thinking the fine nib in my pen was working against me here. As always I love the consistency of the J. Herbin inks and these tiny bottles are amazing for amassing an embarrassing amount of tiny ink bottles!

This is a beautifully flowing ink; nice and wet. The color is what I can only call a peachy-red; sort of a rustic red. I love the tiny little bottles; this is a great way to sample different colors without investing in a huge bottle before you know what you are getting. Also a cost-effective way to have lots of various colors on hand. As usual, J. Herbin delivers on quality as well as variety.

Just four stars because it's "not my color", rouge opera is my favorite of j.herbin reds =) At other point it's cute ink - gentle warm baby-doll light pink. Not that bright as at individual example text, but as washed paintbrush spot at the same example - as in usage at fountain pens. It's bright with calligraphic deep pen nibs, but pale with fountan nibs. Didn't find a lot of common with total 30 colors comparison table swatch - at that table it's closer to d'ancre sample, really. It's perfect for sketches, painting and shading drawings, as drawing inks =)
