4.3 (16 reviews)
Ink for dip pen use ONLY. Do not use inside fountain pens.

This rich, deep black drawing ink is a favorite among artists for its superior drying time. It is bleed resistant, fade resistant, fast drying, and water resistant when dry. It is alcohol resistant and so can be used with alcohol-based markers. The wonderfully rich color is dark enough that even a fine line can be detected and scanned into the computer. Ideal for use on tracing and drawing paper. Bottle features an indented pen rest on the top.

I've used many types...

I've used many types of comic/manga ink, and this is one of the best-performing. It flows like a dream, dries quickly, and doesn't smear ONCE DRY (I just dragged my hand across my latest drawing, REALLY TRYING to smear it-- not a mark! And if you're fast and working on smooth bristol board, you can wipe away smudges before they dry with a carefully applied wet tissue.). Alcohol-based markers go over it without any smearing too. I've used both my brush and nib with it, and am so pleased with its performance. Will be ordering this one again.

Unlike other reviewers...

Unlike other reviewers I find this ink to be slow to dry and when it does it leaves a shiny finish. I don't know how this is beneficial to artwork being scanned. If you work under a drafting lamp the gloss will get on you nerves. The opening on the bottle is small and looking down it seems that a third of the inside is empty which means you have to dig to the bottom to apply ink on the nib.
The ink is dark and adheres to primed nib but it is a little gooey for my taste. Kaimei Lettering is Sol is so much better than this ink. In my opinion it's a waste of money.

Ink's great. Flows well and dries fast. And no blurring or anything like that when used with my Copics. Very nice all around! =)

Well the Easter Bunny...

Well the Easter Bunny arrived and delivered some fun items that prompted my friend to immediately break out the dip pens :) That is a good thing :) Here is her review while she is still using it : " I love it, it is so smooth, dries nice and shiny.. and I love the slight texture to it when it dries. It dries reasonably quickly and isn't stinky, I really like it " ..... So that is the straight out of the bottle review. Unfortunately, I read her all the reviews, which helped me choose this Kaimei ink and another drawing ink... Many commented on how well it works with copic markers. I read to her the description of the markers.I guess there will be a few of those in our near future :)
For the moment I will give it a 4 star, ONLY because it has just been used for scrolled lettering - We'll see how it goes after it's been used more
