Give your favorite gel, ballpoint, or rollerball refill a shiny new home in this unique, high-quality metal pen body, designed and machined by Karas Kustoms right here in the USA. The all-metal click mechanism is smooth and silent, and the stainless steel clip is strong enough to withstand a lifetime of use.

One black 0.5 mm Pilot G-2 ink refill is included, and the pen is compatible with the wide range of refills listed under Recommended Refills/Parts. The pen also comes with springs and a spacer for use with the different refills, as well as a length of plastic tubing that can be used to make custom length spacers for other refills not normally compatible with the pen.

This pen is machined from solid copper. Its raw finish can be polished to stay shiny or allowed to age and develop a unique and hard-earned patina.

This pen has a noticeable metallic scent that can transfer to the user's hand for a short time after use.

Make sure you do not throw away the box without removing the accessory bag containing the springs and spacers. The bag is tucked into the inside fold of the box. The box may differ from the one pictured.

Beautiful pen. There's nothing like solid, non-plated metal, and especially solid copper. Simple design yet works and looks great.

Absolutely gorgeous....

Absolutely gorgeous. Yes, it's heavy, but not enough that writing becomes uncomfortable (at least not for me so far). A little off-putting that the click mechanism isn't covered under the warranty. Right out of the box, mine occasionally has a little bit of the "gritty" feeling that supposedly is caused by "aggressive clicking or flicking," so I'm a bit nervous about how it will hold up over time.

I've paid more than this...

I've paid more than this for fountain pens, but never for a ballpoint/rollerball. Apart from that, my main concern was the weight, more than 3 times heavier than any pen of any kind that I have. Got it anyway, as I wanted one really nice ballpoint. When it arrived, I put in a Pilot 1.0 mm G2 refill and took it out for a write.

It's a beautifully smooth writer, but of course Pilot gets all the credit for that. Karas Kustoms gets the credit, though, for providing such a nice holder for the Pilot refill. The click mechanism is smooth. Karas included a note to say that the mechanism should be treated gently, and that damage caused by abuse would not be covered by warranty. Fair enough, except that it would be easy enough just to say that the mechanism must have been abused. Well, I will treat it well, and time will tell how it holds up.

About that weight. Yes, it could be a bit of a problem to handle. It's not just that it's more tiring to control the pen for long periods, but it's harder to control than a lighter pen. Right now my handwriting takes a hit when I use this. It will probably get easier with practice, but I can't see using this for a long writing session.

Anyway, it takes my favorite refills and it looks nice. I look forward to seeing what kind of patina the copper develops.

Just received my Retrakt...

Just received my Retrakt pen. It's heavy, as you would expect, and a beautiful color. However, I held it for just a minute or so and I noticed that my hand smelled like I'd been counting pennies. I guess I should have thought about this ahead of time, but it never crossed my mind.
