The sporty and compact look of these fountain pens transcend fashion time and are just as attractive today as they were when they were first created years ago. Each pen is made of high-quality plastic and has a subtle checker design. Pens are compact when capped (approx. 4.1 inches long), but very comfortable when posted (5.3 inches long). The pens feature a screw-on cap for extra security, a stainless steel nib, and can be refilled with standard short ink cartridges. Each pen is made in Germany and has a Kaweco metal logo on the top of the cap. One free blue ink international short cartridge is included, more ink colors are available separately at JetPens. Included cartridge will be inside pen upon receipt.
The video below shows how to install an ink cartridge in your Kaweco pen:
This is a terrific fountain pen for the money. I decided to pay a bit more for
the "chess print" design, but it's, basically, the same as the less expensive
version (plain-surface) of the "Sport." My pen never skips and it always writes
smoothly. I also own the black version with a fine nib, and it also writes well.
Fountain pens should glide across the paper surface, and they should never be
pressed hard onto paper--like ballpoints. Incorrect handling can, sometimes,
lead to faulty results. With proper handling, good ink and decent paper (not
glossy), these little Kawecos are an excellent value from Germany.
The Kaweco is terrifici! What a surprise in a small package! I own this pen with
a fine nib and just ordered one with the medium nib. The ink flow is smooth and
consistent; the steel nib is well-made and mine was adjusted properly.
Someone complained about an ink flow problem in another Kaweco review, but I
have had no problem with mine. I would suggest that if a new pen doesn't write
properly to contact JetPens and request an exchange. If the tines are too close,
ink flow will be inhibited--especially if the tips are touching. There should be
a slight space between the tines for capillary action to work properly. These
little pens are mass-produced so there is always a chance an error can occur.
Don't damn the entire production because of a few mistakes. When manufactured
properly, these little Kawecos are excellent for the money. A suggestion for
JetPens: stock the Kaweco Sport with fine nibs, also. Cheers!
