The sporty and compact look of these fountain pens transcend fashion time and are just as attractive today as they were when they were first created years ago. Each pen is made of high-quality plastic in a subtle checker design. The pens are compact when capped (approx. 4.1 inches long), but very comfortable when posted (5.3 inches long).

The pens feature a screw-on cap for extra security, a stainless steel nib, and can be refilled with standard short ink cartridges. Each pen is made in Germany and has a Kaweco metal logo on the top of the cap.

One blue short international ink cartridge is included. The cartridge comes inside the barrel of the pen. If the cartridge seems to be stuck inside the barrel, try gently tapping the barrel against a hard surface a few times to dislodge it.

Q: The ink cartridges I ordered for the Kaweco Sport fountain pen seem too long and won't fit inside. Why is that?
There is an included cartridge inside the pen, which can become lodged inside the barrel of the pen. Please try gently tapping the barrel against a table or other hard surface a few times to get the stuck cartridge out.

This is a terrific fountain pen for the money. I decided to pay a bit more for the "chess print" design, but it's, basically, the same as the less expensive version (plain-surface) of the "Sport." My pen never skips and it always writes smoothly. I also own the black version with a fine nib, and it also writes well.

Fountain pens should glide across the paper surface, and they should never be pressed hard onto paper--like ballpoints. Incorrect handling can, sometimes, lead to faulty results. With proper handling, good ink and decent paper (not glossy), these little Kawecos are an excellent value from Germany.

Nicely balanced, smooth writing pen. The medium nib lays down a rather bold line. I think I would like the fine nib better but I'm still learning.
