I bought this (and several other pens) in preparation for this year's NaNoWriMo.
I like to plan and pre-write longhand, and I have definitely been putting this
little sweetheart through its paces. It is indeed quite small when capped, but I
find that it fits comfortably in my (admitedly rather large) hands. Though it's
quite light (and I generally prefer a heavier pen), this is a good thing - it's
easy to tuck this little beauty away in a pocket without feeling loaded down.
Despite the fact that it is indeed plastic, I find it quite attractive - it
doesn't -look- like a cheap plastic pen.
Most importantly, it writes well! The twist-cap closes securely, assuaging my
fears of inky pockets, and keeping it from drying out. I haven't yet had any
problems whatsoever getting the pen to write at a moment's notice, even if it's
been sitting around for a few good hours. The nib glides gorgeously, and the ink
flows freely. Indeed, though I've heard it disparaged in other reviews, I really
don't have much in the way of complaint in regards to the Kaweco cartridges! The
royal blue I received goes on in a lovely purpley-ultramarine color, and fades
to a sort of clear cerulean as it dries, which is quickly. It doesn't smear my
hands, doesn't drip, leak, sputter, or stop; all in all, I find it to be vivid
and pleasing. In fact, the only real complaint I can think of is that I seem to
be using up the ink at a distressing rate - that said, refill cartridges are
All in all, I'm completely satisfied with this pen, and would (actually, already
have) recommended it to my fellow pen-enthusiast friends. In fact, I have
already purchased more to give as gifts. Definitely worth the price!
