This cartridge-type roller ball liquid ink pen refills with international short Kaweco ink cartridges, just like a fountain pen! It's a convenient ink system that gives you the smooth flow and color range of fountain pens in a roller ball pen form. The Kaweco Sport Ice Roller ball pen is available in four translucent colors and is made from strong yet lightweight ABS/Terlux plastic.
Pen dimensions: Approximately 4.1 inches (10.5 cm) long closed, 5.1 inches (13 cm) with cap posted x 0.4 inches (10.8 mm) body diameter. Cap diameter: Approximately 0.5 inches (14.2 mm).
The video below shows how to install an ink cartridge in your Kaweco pen:
Bought this as a gift for someone who uses rollerballs, after having good
experiences with the Sport fountain pens. I got to try it myself & find that,
for smoothness, it can keep up with quality pens of either type. It seems to be
getting hard to find affordable ballpoints that take cartridges, so this is a
great way to give someone who's used to "normal" pens the opportunity to play
with unusual ink colours. My only small criticism is that the inside of the cap
has an insert of cloudy plastic (which is hard to see in the product photo)
which makes it look a bit cheap compared to rest of the clear body: next time
I'd probably go with black.
the idea behind this rollerball is awesome- a "regular" rollerball pen that can
use fountain pen ink! However, the pen has a terrible tendency to skip on finer
paper such as rhodia and clairefontaine. That said, it preforms admirably on
cheap paper, laying down a thick wet line. Overall, a decent little pen that
unfortunately does not play well with nicer paper. oh well, I guess I'll just
use my Kaweco Al-sport (F) for that... ;)
