Kaweco designed the Dia2 fountain pen to embody timeless beauty like a "DIAmond". It has classic styling, with a shiny black acrylic body, a solid chrome-colored brass clip, and additional chrome-colored accents including Kaweco logos on the cap and back end. The distinctive knurling on the cap and end of the barrel has been a unique design element since Dia2 was launched in the 1930s. The nib is steel with an iridium point, and comes from renowned nib maker Bock Heidelberg. With its screw-on cap, the pen stays securely closed when not in use.

A blue short international ink cartridge and gift box are included. The cartridge comes inside the barrel of the pen. If the cartridge seems to be stuck inside the barrel, try gently tapping the barrel against a hard surface a few times to dislodge it.

I bought this pen to use as an everyday writer. The fit, finish, and quality of the pen is very nice indeed. The pen feels solid, it's well balanced, and comfortable to write with. The only issue i had was that the nib (i had ordered the XF) was very scratchy, and ink-flow was a bit sporadic. The nib tines were slightly misaligned, but were easily re-aligned. I did have to remove the nib, and polish the tip slightly (although I've had to do this with pens costing 3 times as much as this one). The pen now writes very smoothly, nice even in-flow, and i am happy with it.

A good friend bought me a KaWeCo Sport a few years back, and it's been one of the smoothest pens in my collection. I have a few different brands, and my favorites are KaWeCo and Pelikan. I wasn't expecting this Dia2 to be as good as it is, though. It has heft; it is incredibly well designed and attractive. I might just retire all but my Pelikan and KaWeCo pens: why would I write with anything less?
