Hmm, I wouldn't call this a light purple....you know how blue-black ink is like...black ink with undertones of blue? This is like black-purple ink...purple with undertones of black. Very faint black, but nonetheless it's there.

I think the color of the cartridge box is a pretty accurate measure of the ink itself when it dries. It's a bit richer when you first write with it.

Still, I agree with the "neutral" hue statement. Definitely not overly flashy or shiny. It's a muted purple, calming and perhaps even a bit dry, but that's where its strength lies: in its sensible, straightforward coloring.

I use it for notes and doodles and everything in between, and like how it blends in with my black and blue inks without standing out. Plus, every time someone asks me about the color, I get to tell them a cool name.

"No, this isn't purple ink...it's -aubergine- purple ink!"

Never mind that I'm probably mispronouncing aubergine and that the ink comes from a cheap-looking international cartridge. The point is that it looks flawlessly elegant and dignified on paper.

And the packaging is cute too. Just look at all the pretty flourishes on the side!

This is why I love Kaweco so much.

Really like this shade of purple, which does have a hint of black. Aubergine is an appropriate name for it. I just wish it were available in a large capacity size like the Pelikan "long" cartridges. Smooth going down, and a good signature color.

This is a rather light purple but not too light. It goes down smooth and is bold enough to stand out on the page. It's a true purple, not really tending towards blue or pink. I'd like to get some in a bottle.

I have to agree with the other reviews that say this is a neutral purple. The box is a pretty decent representation of what the ink looks like dry. It isn't flashy or shiny, just purple. I wouldn't mind something a little more flashy, but I would consider this again, as I do use colored inks in note taking to help me when I study.

The color of the box...

The color of the box is awesome, and I thought I'd be getting a "faded-like-denim purple." Unfortunately, every pen I've tried this ink with just lays down a medium-gray line. It is just barely dark enough for regular daily usage, and the only time I've managed to get the ink to appear purple is when I've taken out the cartridge, squeezed it onto a dip pen, and written with it. It's not an actual usage of the cartridge - I just wanted to make sure it really was purple because when I just squeeze the cartridge onto the paper it results in a dark gray, almost black dot.

That being said, the Kaweco cartridges inserted inthe Kaweco Sport pens (I have F and EF) write well and comfortably, even if the other color I've used (blue) has also ended up looking gray and black.
