Smooth writing, and mine wasn't scratchy at all. I replaced my medium Kaweco nib just for this, and I love it. Just bear in mind that ef nibs from Kaweco are slightly thicker than those ef nibs from Japanese products!

This is the nib for me. If you like fine ballpoints and can use this nib buy it it is worth the money. I have a Kaweco Sport that originally had a medium nib which was just to bold for the way I write. After some working to get the medium nib out this extra fine nib slipped right in.

Very scratchy compared to the Fine nib the pen came with. Writes okay, but very noisy.

I bought this nib to put on my Kaweco Liliput. It wrote smoother than the standard steel nib that comes with the Liliput, but the tines on this nib were so tightly pressed together that they were constricting ink-flow. I slowly pressed the tines against a small, round, metal object to increase the space between them just a tad (look online for a tutorial) and now it writes perfectly. True extra-fine line with juicy ink-flow. Not a real problem in my opinion - I'm glad Kaweco makes their nibs too fine and not too broad (as the problem is easier to fix). Once again another great Kaweco product.
