This cartridge-type roller ball liquid ink pen refills with with international short Kaweco ink cartridges, just like a fountain pen! It's a convenient ink system that gives you the smooth flow and color range of fountain pens in a roller ball pen form. The Kaweco Sport Ice Rollerball pen is available in four translucent colors and is made from strong yet lightweight ABS/Terlux plastic.
Pen dimensions: Approximately 10.5 cm long closed, 13 cm with cap posted x 10.8 mm body diameter. Cap diameter: Approximately 14.2 mm.
The video below shows how to install an ink cartridge in your Kaweco pen:
This pen scared me quite a bit when I first got it. It skipped a lot. It ran
scratchy. After a long process of priming and breaking in, this pen turned out
to be great! I can use any kind of short international ink cartridge I want.
Took a lot of breaking in
Bleeds quite a bit (it could just be the ink I use)
I just loved the idea of a bottle-ink refillable roller ball! I had to try this.
It does work for a while; but eventually the ball gets very scratchy and the
writing skips and so on. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the material of
the ball, the metal that holds it in place, or a bad interaction with the inks
I've chosen to use in the pen. But it has turned into a disposable pen for me at
a not-disposable price; I'm not sure if I can buy a fountain pen feed to prevent
dropping this in a landfill. I have a lot of Kaweco pens that I really like.
This pen is a beta-test unit in my opinion and needs some more engineering of
the feed and roller unit. I have purchased two other colors. They have developed
the same problem with different inks, so I think the clogging/drying/whatever is
a problem with the pen feed itself.
