I've been pleased with my Kaweco roller ball after several months of ownership. As I use mine almost every day I found after slight skipping with the first two cartridges an instrument that writes quite well with unusual exception in the value price category. It is an attention getter as well. Most people have not seen a pen like this and it catches their eye often prompting questions or requests for a closer look. I did purchase the nickel pocket clip with this pen. I enjoy writing with it very much, the range of color choices, and its roller ball point as I have a heavy hand. It's been worth every penny.

The sport ice roller ball is a good concept, but I found the roller ball wasn't that smooth. It put down the ink just fine, but crackled and squeaked. I sent it back and got the fountain pen in the same color, which I much prefer. [see review on sport ice orange M nib fountain pen page]. The roller ball is light and compact for everyday carrying, but if the writing experience is not exceptional I cannot tolerate it. Life's too short.

I just loved the idea of a bottle-ink refillable roller ball! I had to try this. It does work for a while; but eventually the ball gets very scratchy and the writing skips and so on. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the material of the ball, the metal that holds it in place, or a bad interaction with the inks I've chosen to use in the pen. But it has turned into a disposable pen for me at a not-disposable price; I'm not sure if I can buy a fountain pen feed to prevent dropping this in a landfill. I have a lot of Kaweco pens that I really like. This pen is a beta-test unit in my opinion and needs some more engineering of the feed and roller unit. I have purchased two other colors. They have developed the same problem with different inks, so I think the clogging/drying/whatever is a problem with the pen feed itself.
