I was looking for a small fountain pen and purchased the Kaweco Liliput Fountain
Pen with a Fine Nib and Black body. I was a little hesitant given some of the
reviews here at JetPens and on YouTube, but decided to try the Liliput anyway.
The item really is a minimalist work of art. I really needed a pen with a clip,
which this pen does not have, however, I purchased the clip that is available
for the Fisher Space pen. After opening the clamp a bit to fit the larger
diameter of the Kaweco, it fit perfectly and I now had a Liliput with a clip.
Use of the pen was a bit of a let down. The nib is very dry and skips quite a
bit, enough to get into the annoying category. I tried on different papers and
while the nib is very smooth, the inconsistency in ink delivery, using Kaweco
cartridges is too much to overlook. I wrote on very absorbent paper, paper that
makes the lines written look like they come from a broad or italic nib, but even
with the paper sucking ink out of the beautiful little pen, it still skipped and
required going back to complete letters that got no ink the first time around.
I know that this is not a high end pen, but at almost $60, I expect it to at
least write. I have had 5 fountain pens prior to this one and have never had
this issue with prior pens, to bad given how good the pen looks and how well it
fits my needs with regards to size and purpose. Five stars for fit and finish,
One star for how it writes, Three stars average.
