The sleek and slim design of the Kaweco Special AL Fountain Pen is a classy addition to the Kaweco Aluminum fountain pen line. The octagonal barrel consists of anodized solid aluminum with a matte black finish. The cap screws on to the body to securely close the pen, and also posts on to the back of the barrel during writing. Since the pen is full-sized, it will accept a converter, as well as any short or long international ink cartridge. Features the iconic silver Kaweco logo on the cap. Multiple nib sizes available.

Pen dimensions: Approximately 5.6 inches (14.2 cm) long when capped, 6.4 inches (16.3 cm) long from tip of nib to end of cap when cap is posted on back of pen barrel, and 0.4 inches (10 mm) in diameter.

The pen comes in a tin gift box with one blue ink cartridge. The cartridge comes inside the barrel of the pen. If the cartridge seems to be stuck inside the barrel, try gently tapping the barrel against a hard surface a few times to dislodge it.

Who are these people...

Who are these people that reviewed this pen? First of all rest assured that this pen has no plastic parts, anywhere, with the exception of the feed. It is very sturdy and well crafted, and more than likely will survive much longer than the reviewers above. The nib quality is fantastic, and if an extra fine can be smooth just imagine what a real nib feels like. I have the double broad, and what a dream it is. I would suggest that a little research would have paid off prior to purchasing and would have saved these folks their money. The threads will last as long as the pen does if normal care is used and not subjected to abuse. This is a precision machined tube of aircraft aluminum so the price is in line with the craftsmanship.

Love this pen. It is a classic! Love the shape, the color and the weight of it. I am well pleased and that is good because I am picky!

Sorry to say, but this pen was very disappointing. I bought it early when no reviews were available, but took a chance anyway, as I liked the body style. Kind of reminded me of a skinnier Rotring 600.

Basically, this pen feels like a $20.00 pen. I love Jetpens and knew I was taking a chance, but I will be selling this ASAP.

Also, I feel the Lamy EF nibs are superior to these, as well. This pen does write okay, with minimal skipping and not too scratchy, but the price makes this outrageous.

Spend that money somewhere else!

Very disappointed in this pen, especially for the price. The grip of the pen and both endscaps are made of cheap, rough-feeling plastic. This means that everywhere two parts screw together (putting on or posting the cap, opening the pen to refill) one is plastic and one is metal, which seems like a recipe for excessive wear. The plastic feels quite flimsy and I can't imagine it will last well.

If this pen were 25 dollars, the quality would be acceptable (but no better than that). At over 100, it's pretty terrible.
