I like these soft colors...

I like these soft colors for books where the pages have a bright background. Too
much fluorescent color on super-white paper makes my eyes hurt, and these soft
colors tone everything down nicely, while still making it clear what I've
highlighted. it's especially hard to find a purple highlighter that doesn't blot
out the words underneath, but this one is perfectly transparent.
The dual colors means that I don't need a bunch of highlighters on my desk, but
I can have some variety of what I highlight, no matter how little of desk real
estate I have.
Another nice thing about the Kokuyo highlighters is that they are tops for
highlighting my notes written in fountain pen ink. I've tried nearly every
highlighter out there, and the Kokuyo is the only one that consistently
highlights without smearing, once the fountain pen ink is dry, on all kinds of
paper. My test ink for highlighters is Emerald of Chivor. Anyone who's used that
knows how super-saturated it is, and how it is not a well-behaved ink. If it can
smear at all, it will, given half a chance, but the Kokuyo highlighters go right
over it without a hitch.
