DescriptionSpecificationsQuestions & Answers
This pencil is named "Enpitsu", the Japanese term for a non-mechanical wooden pencil, due to the thick lead. Available lead sizes are 0.9 mm and 1.3 mm, and they provide the versatility of a wooden pencil, allowing you to do anything from writing memos to illustrating. The soft elastomer body provides a comfortable grip. Safety features include a retractable tip that minimizes accidental pokes while the pencil is not in use. In addition, instead of a cap that could get lost, the pencil has a top that does not come off, and lead can be inserted through it without removing any parts.

Dimensions: 5.5 inches length, 0.4 inches diameter (14 cm length, 1 cm diameter).

I love this thing. I just made a Jet Pens purchase of marriage-threatening proportions, which included some really nice writers...and this. I've probably used this most so far. It's a simple mechanical pencil/lead holder which feels great in the hand, and paints out a silky smooth, 1.33mm fat line of dark graphite. It's kind of like a dry erase marker, and makes jotting on any piece of paper feel like brainstorming at a white board. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderful pencil. It's soft, easy to hold, easy and smooth lead extension (is that what it's called when you click out more lead?), and easy to refill. The only downside is the lack of an eraser. It's not a big deal (as in, I can get an eraser separately and use that), but it can definitely be a little annoying. I use this in class, and when I'm erasing little details, I'd really like that small pencil-top eraser.

Other than that though, basically perfection in a pencil.

I use this for drawing on fairly large pads. It's the only mechanical pencil I use for that purpose - all my others are wood - but it's excellent, a permanent part of my studio kit. It doesn't come with much lead however so you might order the 1.3 mm leads at the same time.

Very nice pencil, and feel. It has like a rubber coating all around so no matter where you hold the pencil you have a grip. Love that it has no erase on top. That extra thick lead is great for sketching.

I have over 20 pencils from JetPens and this is one of my favorites. The Enpitsu has a slightly triangular body with a rubbery finish. It comes loaded with soft lead (I'm not sure what hardness, but it is softer than HB for sure). Great for sketching.
