Kuretake Disposable Pocket Brush Pen - Medium

I suspect this pen is really more suited for calligraphy rather than drawing applications. I had hoped it could be a decent pen for drawing caricatures and cartoons quickly thanks to its wider nib. Unfortunately the ink flow is rather slow, so the thick lines tend streak when drawing long strokes at faster speeds. Good trait for making Kanji characters in a controlled manner, but rather disappointing performance as a drawing tool.

To me it was an amazing pen, but sadly I didn't get must time with it! For some reason the brush won't write anymore and the ink is spilling out like crazy. I have ordered another one to see if the problem will be the same or if it was something I did that caused it to do that.

Overall, I fine that it is an amazing pen to write with and I got a lot out of it from that short period that I used it. Glad that I took the chance on it! :) And I highly recommend it for people to try. All my friends have tried it and absolutely adored it! -_- That may be the reason it's not working... I haven't the heart to throw it out though!

The perfect Kuretake for me, and I've tried them all.

This tip is softer than the xtra-fine, and shows good variation for small written Chinese calligraphy. It's also perfect for putting pine needles on pine trees with my ink paintings. Wide enough to show the right kinds of variation for the needles, but thin enough to keep every needle sharp. I can watercolor right over it and there's no smearing or bleed thru. It's perfect for what I'd hoped to use it for.

I suspect this will also be quite good for the thicker outline lines for manga-style drawing as well.
