Compared to other Medium nibbed fude pens, this one is AWFUL. I usually love Kuretake's fude pens (I use the Fudegokochi on a daily basis to ink in my sketchbook), but this one is horrible. The nib is very stiff- there's no flex like one would expect from a brush pen, and it arrived dry. If you're looking for a Medium nib fude pen to ink sketches with, I recommend looking at the Sailor Mitsuo Aida or Pilot's Pocket Brush in Soft.

I find that Kuretake brush pens are a lot of fun to draw with. One thing you must know is that it will require some patience since there is streaking when making swift lines, so if you want full lines you have to go slow when drawing. However, if you know how to use the streaking to your advantage, it can make for great texture in your lines.

Don't underestimate these pens. They can be great when being used for drawings.

I suspect this pen is really more suited for calligraphy rather than drawing applications. I had hoped it could be a decent pen for drawing caricatures and cartoons quickly thanks to its wider nib. Unfortunately the ink flow is rather slow, so the thick lines tend streak when drawing long strokes at faster speeds. Good trait for making Kanji characters in a controlled manner, but rather disappointing performance as a drawing tool.

Love this pen... It has a thin tip for minor detail and a thick base to fill in those large amounts of black areas with ease. One thing that I can say is that you can't go wrong with the Kuretake brand.
