As others have commented, this is is a wonderful pen for sketching. The ink is a light neutral grey, perfect for adding tones shadows to line drawings. It doesn't bleed through the page. You can also create darker greys by layering more strokes on the paper. The brush nib is fairly broad, but you can get thin lines by holding the pen vertical and using a light touch.

Amazing pen: perfect light color for sketching pre-darker inking. The shade and tip are present enough to define lines while also being light enough to not distract from a final inked image.

This pen is terrific. It doesn't bleed through paper like many other gray pens/markers. The narrow tip provides plenty of precision. When dry, the ink can look like watercolor. Other gray inks tend to be on the darker side which makes layering difficult. This one, however, is light enough to build tone gradually, up to a point. This is my #1 tool for value sketching.

To quote an earlier positive review, because it sums up my feelings exactly: "Amazing pen: perfect light color for sketching pre-darker inking. The shade and tip are present enough to define lines while also being light enough to not distract from a final inked image." I've also found, on the papers I've tried so far, I can draw over pencil lines and erase them, leaving only the light grey sketch for inking over; and also, with careful application of a water brush I can either blend the grey sketch lines into subtle shading or lift them off completely. The tip is fine and sturdy enough for delicately thin lines, or can be used to create thicker or varied-width brushstrokes.

I've had less luck building up layers of shading just using the pen "dry," but I'm looking forward to more experiments with it. I think it'll be a great asset for preliminary sketching.

This pen is perfect for sketching! I never really thought to sketch with a pen until I saw the other reviews for this pen. It's ideal because I don't have to deal with smudging my pencil work. It's lighter than I was expecting, but I don't think that's bothersome. The light grey adds a really cool effect to the bolder ink lines on top. The only fault I can find is that the tip wore down on me fairly quickly, but overall, it's pretty solid!
