Fine tip felt brush pen from Kuretake. Creates great consistent lines and dark color.

Everyone knows Kuretake because of the famous No. 13 fountain brush pen that is so popular in the US. But did you know that Kuretake has dozens of other brush pens that are just as high quality and popular in Japan? JetPens is proud to bring to the US an extensive line of Kuretake brush pens. Each brush is unique and perfect for a different use. The quality and performance of these pens are quite impressive, and we think you will be very pleased.

This is a great pen. It's refillable feature made its very special and it's felt brush tip is a good one. It's just at the very tip point, the firmness is not as hard as I expected (I like firm tip like zebra disposal super fine or Kuretake disposable pocket brush fine). This pen feels very close to Tombow GCD-112.

Great brush pen! Been using it for a few months, ink is very dark and the tip is nice and thin. However, it's not as large as I would like. I've looked all over for a refillable felt-tip brush pen, and this one is the best ive found so far

For me this just didn't deliver on line variation. I also find that on any of the paper I use it kinda feathers. I've used lots of different papers. The only one that seems to keep it from feathering is cold press watercolor paper.

I do illustration, mostly with marker. I have the Kuretake No. 8 which performs beautifully. I really prefer felt tipped brush pens and fude pens over hair brush pens though, so this seemed like it would do the job. I find that I'm liking my Pilot Petit 3 more!! Which cheaper and quite portable.
The nice thing about this though is that the ink flow is spectacular. I use the akashiya bamboo body brush pen refills (they look almost the exact same as the Kuretake refills) and the ink is a nice rich black. It stands up really well to my black pigment inks I buy, which is great for a refillable pen.
The body length is pretty substantial as well. It's a long pen, even more so if you post the cap like I do. This may bother some but it's fine by me.
Overall it's a pretty solid pen. Give it a go if you want consistency in your lines. It's a no fuss pen in that department.

I still only give 4 stars, but that is only due to the lack of much line variation. Other than that, this is a very good illustration/drawing pen!
As a matter of fact, I plan to add this pen to my "keepers". If you realize that you will not get much in the way of line variation, you will be OK.
This pen gives a dark line, very easy to control, and unless you go too fast, the line will not fade much. This pen is a great illustration pen. Just be careful that you do not rub the line too soon after you draw or it may smear a little. I highly recommend this pen unless you absolutely must have a lot of line variation out of one pen.

A fun pen to draw with, but I can't get much line variation. You can draw fairly fast with this (not too fast), and not get a streaky line. However, I see this more as a cartoonist's pen than an illustrator's pen. If you like to do cartoons, give this a try. If you do more serious illustration and need line variation, I would look elsewhere. I nice pen though with good dark ink...
