Great holder system for the money! No worries so far about the inks staining the white barrel.

(Note: This review is not just for the pen body, but for the pen, as a whole.)

This is my new favorite pen, slightly edging out the Pentel Tradio "Fountain" Pen. The Zig Letter Pen is unlike any pen sold here at Jet. Using a hardened fiber point, the ink flow is varied and shades beautifully, as you turn the pen slightly while writing. One is advised to use it with a "light touch", lest you flatten the point.

While Jet lists the Zig Letter Pen in their "calligraphy pen" section, it isn't a true calligraphic pen, in that it doesn't have a tradition flat nib. Instead, it the point is quite sharp, but, by alternating pressure and slightly twisting the pen as you write, you see a great deal of shading and varying line width.

Ink colors are limited, however, I am partial to the sepia, which when used on a beige paper creates an antique quality to one's writing.

the color is much, much brighter in real life than in the photos, and more childish looking as a result. otherwise it is exactly what you would expect it to be like, considering the photos.

This was my 1st Jetpens purchase, the one that started the addiction ;-) I read about Jetpens on BoingBoing.net, and one of the commenters said these Letter Pens are the best writing experience ever! I checked them out here, found them to be pretty inexpensive and decided to give it a try.
I bought this Rose Komachi Pink Cocoiro pen body w/ matching Rose Pink ink refill (also bought the blue body & black body and 6-7 different ink colors to try). Of course you don't have to match the ink color to the body color, but its just so much nicer to do so. And others have said you can write with the refills alone, no need to buy the pen body--but it just looks so cute and feels so comfortable to write with the pen body.
JJust buy the pen body along w/ the refills, you won't be sorry. Get it in your favorite color, you REALLY only need one pen body since you (probably?) only write with one pen at a time...
On to the review: Ink is lovely, translucent, bright, and richly pigmented. Pen tip is unlike any I've seen, theres no comparison. You can write with the tip for super-fine lines, or at an angle for thicker lines. IIt doesnt dry up if you don't use them often--I set mine aside for like 6 months, and they still write exactly the same.
I give 5 stars for the Letter Pens' ability to make plain handwriting look almost calligraphic, especially Japanese writing, which pourrs forth effortlesslyy from these lovely pens. The ink never skips no matter how fast you bwrite, and feathering is kind of rare, depending on the paper...I'd save them for actual letter-writing, not note taking or furious emotional diary writing sessions, because they look so fancy, and dark ink colors bleed thru the pages of mostt notebooks (even Moleskine, sigh!).

The color on this is more buttercup yellow than orange. It also seem fairly pointless given that you can write perfectly fine with out it, it just adds a little more girth to the pen. It also gets scuffed up and mis-colored with every little bump it has against any sort of dark object. I won't be buying this one again. Even if it breaks, I would rather just use the "refill" on it's own.

This is my new favorite pen! It is a pleasure to write with and the point is so fine that you can write very cleanly with very small letters. I use it for card making and letter writing. Love it!

Cute pen body, but it looks pretty cheap (because it is). The letters on the grip of mine rubbed off on the second day I had it. However, it rubbed off completely, so it doesn't look bad, I was just expecting it to last longer.

It has a lovely soft feel and the green is very vibrant. However, the text on the pen clip, "Letter Pen COCOIRO" has come off after less than a month of not even regular use.

The color isn't quite as bright in real life as it is in the photo, but it's still a pretty color. I kinda wish it came farther up the pen when the cap's off.

The color is bright and the body feels nice in hand. I don't like the way the end of the ink refil sticks out of the bottom - it makes it seem like part of my pen is missing. Even with that one issue, I still REALLY LIKE this pen.

It's definitely cute, but unnecessary. The way I hold a pen, I'm not even touching the body at all. Love how it looks, but not very useful.
