I seriously like this...

I seriously like this thing. 5 different lengths and each produces a sharp tip. I already forgot if it's 1 or 5 that makes the regular pencil angle; I very quickly decided 3 is my favorite setting. Slightly shorter than normal, sharpens fast, good for sketching.

I bought this sharpener because it CLOSES. I've been having trouble with pencil shavings escaping inside my pencil bag – invariably finding their way into my kneaded erasers (which I finally had to isolate in tiny jars). I saw this sharpener and thought Huzzah!

A Note: Do please set it back to "close" after every time you use it! --->

I kept mine open on a setting for several days, when I went to close the little plastic slot had trouble sliding all the way. I thought Oh no I've broken it! It's loose and rattles and won't stay shut! BUT... after a day or so of sitting in the closed position, it returned back to its normal snappy fully-closeable self. Yay! And whew. :3 (The settings mechanism inside is plastic so it was probably starting to bend under those days of stress. Take away the stress, and it relaxes back into shape.)

I am one of the few people left that prefer to use a wood pencil over a mechanical one. Unfortunately, I have had a hard time finding a compact sharpener that will provide a nice sharp point like the old school hand crank sharpeners do. This sharpener by far is the best!! I actually prefer to use this sharpener over the hand crank one I have...yes, that's right...I actually have a hand crank sharpener mounted in the garage. I especially enjoy the different settings available although my favorite would be the #3 setting.

THE ONLY ONE YOU NEED

I am in love with this sharpener, most sharpeners boast about different sharpening settings and generally they dont deliver. Trust me, I've gotten several sharpeners that say they do what this one actually does. This is worth every penny. It doesnt seem like much, as the plastic body seems really weak and easily broken. However this thing sharpens like a pro. I love the removable back panel though I am afraid it will get lost. However so far so good. I love that it closes as I have a 3 year old who likes to sharpen pens and this deters him some as he gets more interested in just turning the wheel. There is definitely a difference between the numbers and how it sharpens, small, but noticeable. I like to keep at 3 as it's works the best for how I hold my pencil and draw.

I cannot say enough wonderful...

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this sharpener!

I'm pretty rough on my things, carrying a ton of stationary supplies to and from school, work, etc. I also do a lot of pencil work ( I mean a LOT) and need a sharpener that is clean, holds its own shavings, and will not jam up or feel weird when you sharpen.

This is smooth, clean, small (a lot smaller than it looks in the picture, its about the size of my palm, and I have small hands.) The dial is fairly easy to turn (not too easy that it will click of "close" and put dust everywhere though.

Overall I love it!

Well worth your time. Best one I have found for my kids as I can make different points for different ages.
I have to agree that #3 is probably the best setting for normal use.
