This is a work horse of a fountain pen. I have dropped it, taken it through rough settings and it still looks great and works flawlessly. This has a pen has a very ergonomic grip, so if you have got big hands, this pen may be a bit hard to work with. The clip is pretty nice and hold snug in my pocket or shirt. The metal body guarantees a long life and i love using this pen for notes or long papers. I love this pen and expect to be buying more of them. Thank You Jetpens!!!!

An amazing pen. I sometimes buy more expensive pens, but I always return to my trusty Lamy Al-Star. It is more reliable, less fragile and more pleasant to write with than any other pen I own. On top of that, it is quite affordable, making it a good starter pen. Also, then pen is wide and light, which means I can write with it for hours without getting cramps. I just came back from a team offsite, where I took notes for a week and didn't even feel it.

Finally, a pieces of advice:
+ Get the pen with the Fine nib if you intend to write notes with it. The Medium nib is quite thick, which makes it better for drawing.

This is by far one of the best and most amazing fountain pens I have ever used.
The clip on it is especially useful if you are a person who brings it around with them and moves a lot throughout their day.
Also, the ink cartridges work very well and last a surprisingly long amount of time.
