The CLIP!!! The clip...
The CLIP!!! The clip has loosened, after less than one month's use, to the extent that it falls out of my jacket pocket if I bend to tie my shoe. Disappointing. The clip for my safari has presented no such issue.
The ink flow, ergonomy, and balance of this pen is nice. I use Diamine oxblood with a bit of eclipse black to create a similar color to the barrel. Beautiful. Good fountain pens really are such a pleasure with which to write.

This pen writes great...
This pen writes great and I love the grooves on the handle that guide your fingers into the right spot.....(that's what she said?)....But honestly, it's a neat feature!
What surprised me the most is how big the pen actually is. I'm used to a Pilot Prera and the Al-Star feels like a pool cue sometimes. But the pen starts right up after being left open for a bit. (hence 4 stars vs. 5 stars)
The purple is a great color and I'll be drooling over some other colors.
