I've use Lamy Safari for 15 years. (Through HS, College, and now work). I use them for drafting and sketching, as well as handwriting. They ergonomically fit your hand, and makes the action of writing an enjoyable experience! There is no hassle with changing ink cartridges in the FP. (also the refillable cartridge works with these) Need I say that the new color choices are breathtaking?

As for the Calligraphy Nib, I love it! I had never had one in the Lamy Safari line, and this was my first one. I can achieve a greater variety of lines with this Nib, than with other brands. I believe is because its material is stronger, and this makes the tip almost indestructible! - (other would flare and bend) The tip of the nib is highly polished, (perhaps hardened?), and although is a 1.5mm and its traces are expected to be "blocky" or edgy, and its maneuvering difficult, the tip of the nib actually has a roundness that allows for better gliding on paper, and a more pristine quality of line.

Most definitely recommend the Lamy Safari line! - They are a German design, and something I know, and can assure you with 15 yrs of use, is that there is nothing like German Design. It's sharp and clean looking, but most importantly: It works! It exceeds the regular pen expectations and life span.
Also, I'd like to add that, as a professional artist and art educator, I recommend JetPens without any reservations. Jet pens is my main art supplies vendor, I trust them 100% with any of my orders, because they're serious and professional about fulfilling their customer's satisfactions. They're diligent when communicating with me, and actually do deliver everything on time. Five stars to them too!

You can see a definite line variance with this nib. The 1.1mm is just not quite wide enough to get said variance when the nib's edge is more rounded rather than sharp. This one writes smoothly and puts down beautiful lines.

I just need the 1.9mm to round out the collection, but I'm afraid that one might be too wide! 1.5mm is the perfect middle-of-the-road size for beautiful everyday penmanship. But the nib's edge needs to be sharper to get a full five stars from me. It's almost perfect. :D

A great way to "play" with calligraphy or add a little bit of line variation to medium-large handwriting. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this nib is quite happy to push up and to the left, which is something I was taught never to do in calligraphy. I'll definitely be using it for stationary.

No problems with fit on my Lamy Joy (no surprise there). I had to do a little bit of cleaning when I got it (at first it was a little scratchy due to some material stuck in the tip) but I chalk that up to shipping. 1.5mm is the perfect size to add character to normal handwriting without making it so bold that smaller text becomes impossible.

I really like it, has some hard start problems with Diamine 1984 inks, but not with Lamy inks. Too thick to write all the time with, but I love how neatly it makes me write, so I'm going to get a 1.1

This nib is a great, inexpensive way to get a calligraphy-look to your handwriting. The 1.5mm is wide enough to see a distinct difference in line width, but not too big. I have used it to write letters and cards, but I've also used it to write notes on 3x5 cards and it works well in both applications. I installed mine on a charcoal colored Lamy Safari (the whole operation took a few seconds) and now have a good, everyday writer that can double as a slightly classier letter writer.

Writes very well, i would like it to write sharper narrow strokes to produce a stronger contrast, but it's not too big of a deal.

Works very well on my Joy with J. Herbin Perle Noire ink. It's more challenging to use than a round nib, but the appearance is very cool. I want to try the 1.9mm now!
