This pen is great; the M16 refill--not so much. However, if you buy the Monteverde "soft roll" refills and use them instead, I think you will love the pen. Most of the negative reviews on this pen have to do with the Lamy refill, not the quality of the pen itself.

The pen itself is quite beautiful, has a great weight and feel to it. Ink flow does not feel particularly amazing, but as another review wrote is definitely better than a disposable bic or its like. The problem is in the ink refills - I write a very moderate amount, definitely less than say a student, and the ink lasts me maybe 3 weeks. I have gotten Lamy refills from multiple stores, including JetPens, and the result is always the same - refills only last a short time. Bottom line - the pen is beautiful, but if you want to use it as a main pen you'll be buying pricey refills at great frequency.

This pen isn't quite what I expected. It is lighter and feels cheaper than it appears. When compared to a Zebra F701, it is lighter and doesn't quite feel as solid. The pen writes well and the mechanism is relatively smooth. However, it isn't 100% smooth, which is what I would expect from a pen of this cost. There seems to be slight mechanical friction that gives it a bit of a cheap feel. Overall, not quite up to Lamy standards. I have had the pen for several days, and find myself reaching for my F701 more than this one.

This pen is a little larger than I thought it would be but it still fits and feels very well in the hand. The weight of this pen is a good solid heft that makes it feel worthy of the $35 price tag. The writing performance is that of most ballpoints and is not as smooth as a jetstream or surari but better than your average Bic or Papermate ballpoint pen. Overall i really enjoy this pen and plan on using it as a EDC pen.
