My "goldilocks zone"..., March 15, 2012
My "goldilocks zone" nib for my lamy safari. Has the boldness of the medium without leaving such a thick/wet line, and has the precision of the extra-fine without being scratchy or too fine. Also has buttery smoothness on par with the medium nib.

Highly recommended if you have pretty normal-sized hand writing. Works well for both cursive and printed letters.

My favorite size of Lamy..., January 23, 2013
My favorite size of Lamy nib. As another reviewer said, it is my "goldilocks" size - not too big, not too small. I find the extra fine nib to be rather scratchy at times, and the medium can be a bit too thick for some papers (though very buttery to write with.)

This is the perfect in-between - leaves a bold line without having to make my letters/lines too large and is still very smooth to write with. Can also write with this nib upside-down to make smaller margin notes if needed (without being insanely scratchy.)

My lettering is average size, and I can write very quickly when taking notes - this nib keeps up with no problem; doesn't flood the page with ink, but doesn't leave you hanging while the feed catches up.

I highly recommend this nib size to any Lamy fan!

This nib width is equivalent..., January 18, 2012
This review is from Lamy Fountain Pen Nib - Black Finish - Extra Fine
This nib width is equivalent to "Fine" of most other brands. Lamy makes the width a bit broader than de facto standard. Gives a great line but feels a tiny bit scratchy. Not as soft as "F" and definitely not buttery as "M", this nib is excellent for small-letter writers (like me). I regrect the fact that almost no store, on-line or birck-and-mortar, sells these in chrome finish version. I can't change my Vista nib because of this. Lamy makes EF in both chrome and black, but only 2 online stores (in Europe) sells them. Help us, JetPens!
Almost forget: this nib has a bit of difficulty in flowing the ink as fast as F or M, but a bit of "exercising" in a piece of paper makes the ink flow.

Very very smooth! This..., January 23, 2013
This review is from Lamy Fountain Pen Nib - Black Finish - Medium
Very very smooth! This nib can take dry inks very well, and leaves a rich, bold stroke on the page no matter what you're using. This will, however, bleed through on cheaper papers due to the volume of ink you're putting down. Looks the best with larger lettering, and tends to drown letters that are written smaller (not so good for college-ruled paper, for example.)

I highly recommend this size for people that write large letters/lines. If you write with a more average letter size, try the "fine" size. For small, spidery letters, go with the extra-fine.

Butter smooth! The smoothness change compared to the original EF on my Safari was remarkable. It's much wetter, though. While that makes it much smoother, it also means it's more picky on some papers. Cheaper papers will feather more readily.

This review is from Lamy Fountain Pen Nib - Black Finish - Medium
While it wasn't my favorite thickness, the smoothness deserves 5 stars by itself. Glides along the page effortlessly, even on cheap paper. Has a very wet line, which is fine as long as you don't drag your hand across it too early! Leaves a surprisingly thick mark, which is great if you write in large lettering - not good if you tend to write smaller or take notes on college-ruled paper... things can get a little cramped.

Overall very good though. Recommended for those that write large.
