The pen is compatible with ink cartridges or a Lamy converter. Installing an ink cartridge is easy—simply insert the cartridge into the pen nib section (no need to push completely), then twist the barrel onto the nib section. Attaching the barrel automatically punctures and installs the ink cartridge. Watch a demonstration in the video below.

I don't understand why...
I don't understand why this pen doesn't get as much love as the Lamy Safari, a pen I had and traded away. The nib is the same (excellent) but the grip of the Nexx is so much more comfortable than the Safari. Everyone has a different idea of comfort, of course, but my small hands prefer a wide grip. The Safari grip felt unnaturally small and pinched to me.
The F nib seems to bring out the best in all ink, too. You'll seen the sheen in Sailor Yama-Dori, and the shading in Diamine Asa blue. I love this pen.
