The pen is compatible with ink cartridges or a Lamy converter. Installing an ink cartridge is easy—simply insert the cartridge into the pen nib section (no need to push completely), then twist the barrel onto the nib section. Attaching the barrel automatically punctures and installs the ink cartridge. Watch a demonstration in the video below.

Not as sleek as the Safari,...
Not as sleek as the Safari, but it's the same feed and nib. Writing is characteristic of -and identical to- all other Lamy fountain pens. They are utilitarian pens meant for everyday and student use, and they fill that need well. The Nexx is great step up from plastic fountain pens like the Preppy pens while having a more fun aesthetic than the Safari.
