Lamy Safari Mechanical Pencil - 0.5 mm - Blue Body & Chrome Clip

This pencil works great. I love the fact that the metal sleeve for the lead retracts into the barrel for travel. The grip helps keep my hand from tiring and works great for even MY strange way of holding a pencil. About the only thing I would trade it for is if they made the Kaweco AL Sports in 0.5mm.

Just recently received one of these in my last order. I have had some issues with past mechanical pencils I have tried, but this one seems to be one of the best I have seen in a long time. Some of the other reviews (on the other colors) indicated that the eraser cap feels a bit loose, which it is able to freely spin however it has a resounding snap as it clicks on to the back of the pen and doesn't come off very easily. The lead advancing mechanism is well made and the grip is comfortable. Finally I really like the size and overall feel of this pen. Awesome buy if you need a decent mechanical pencil that won't have any issues.

Overpriced junk. Its a nice pen, but the lead keeps breaking. I have two of these in different colors and both are the same. The lead advances to far with one click, and there is no way to fix this. If you want a Lamy pencil spend a bit more and pick up the "Lamy - Scribble". The Scribble is awsome in everyway!

The Lamy Safari is a good pencil, but it could use some improvements.
Pros:
-Comfortable grip
-Retractable tip
-Lightweight (Could be a con)
-Barrel cleaner at the end of the eraser
-Looks awesome
Cons:
-Mine came with a lot of scratches
-Sometimes a large amount of lead will slide out of the tip when you push on the cap hard
-Eraser cap a bit loose
Overall the pencil is good, but I would recommend getting the one that's yellow, a classmate has it and it looks awesome.

I bought this to match my Lamy fountain pen. I love the sleek look, the feel, the sturdiness, the barrel size and strong clip. My dislikes are the cap, which is tiny and lost easily, and the lead it comes with (it was very pale). I am using it as an everyday pencil, so I don't have high standards for performance. I don't care about replacing the lead, but I would like to see a redesign that prevents you from losing that tiny cap.
