Includes one black M66 roller ball ink cartridge, and gift box. Please note that refill must be installed for the pen body to function properly.

The Lamy Swift roller ball pen needs no cap, and provides a smooth, clean flow of ink. The sleek metal body has a very modern look, and is perforated at the end for a better grip. When extended in the writing position, the clip retracts for greater writing comfort and also protects your pockets from being stained with ink. Multiple body colors available, and refills with Lamy M66 refills.

Pen dimensions: Approximately 5.7 inches (14.5 cm) long, and 0.4 inches (10 mm) in diameter.

The Swift is well made...
January 10, 2015
The Swift is well made with excellent fit and finish. The smooth, black metal surface is comfortable and stealthy and the push-button point deployment works flawlessly. I have used this pen for some time and I have had no problems with it or any M66 cartridge (refill) I have tried (black, blue, red and green). I can write fast since the smooth, liquid ink can keep up with my writing, and I have never experienced any skipping. The point of the capless M66 cartridge seems to be 'medium' in width and that is the only issue I have with this Lamy rollerball since, at times, I would prefer to have a finer line--otherwise it's a terrific writing instrument.

The pen build is pretty...

The pen build is pretty good overall. Good matte feel, nice weight and balance. Everything but the clip and the plunger mechanism is 5/5 to me.

The clip feels flimsy. I mostly use a Maxmadco titanium pen, and the clips on those are known to be indestructible, so maybe the bar is set pretty high for me. I feel a bit nervous clipping this pen into my side jeans pocket. That said, it doesn't feel too weak.

The plunger mechanism is a significant let down. I'd say it's the least satisfying plunger mechanism I've ever used. There isn't a point at which you feel a strong *click* and know that you can ease up the pressure and use the pen. It's a bit of a scratchy movement on the way down, and then at some point you get a faint feeling that the nib is extended past the threshold point, and then you can let go.

Finally, I am not a big fan of the refill that comes with the pen. It is very wet and has a fairly thick line. You can use this refill if you have fairly large handwriting and write fast. I will have to find a good replacement and I'm not sure what that will be yet. For reference, I am a fan of the fine Moleskine gel refills.

For less $$ this would be a great pen, but I expected a bit more for the price. If I find a refill replacement I am happy with that will make a big difference.
