Lamy Tipo Rollerball Pen - Medium Point - Orange Body - Black Ink

DescriptionSpecificationsFrequently Asked Questions
The Lamy Tipo is ready for use instantly, and features a fool-proof pocket stain preventing design! When the black plastic clip is pressed to extend the roller ball tip, the clip itself hooks into a slot in the pen body so it can no longer be used to clip the pen onto a pocket. When the top of the clip is pressed, however, the roller ball tip disappears inside the body and the clip returns to its original position. The Lamy Tipo can then once again be clipped onto a pocket without any risk of stains. The pen features a plastic grip, and a sturdy plastic barrel. Multiple body colors, and ink refill colors available.

Pen dimensions: 5 inches (12.8 cm) long, and 0.4 inches (11 mm) in diameter.

I got one of these about a year ago. It's a fine pen. I really like the look and feel of it. The ink cartridge is pretty okay, as well. I'm not a massive fan of rollerballs, but this one is perfectly serviceable. The problem with the pen is that the knock is tricky. If you don't press it just right it won't stay down. There's a little hole in the barrel that the end of the clip has to set in to, and it won't do that unless you press it just right. It's not hard to learn, but if you hand it to someone who doesn't know the trick they will be frustrated by it. Problem, or fun party-trick.

The box that the pen comes in is pretty awesome. I keep it on my desk to display the pen. It kinda looks like a rocketship.

This is a pen I enjoy a good deal, it writes nice and black, looks interesting, feels good in-hand. I have had a few of these over the years, and the only slight flaw is the unique knock system does not always click into place, so that instead of just pushing on the back of the knock, you kind of have to slide your thumb down the side of the clip/knock and push it into position so that it stays "knocked," extended. Besides THAT, it writes smoothly, I really love the ink and the body.

It writes very well, I like the look and design. Unfortunately aside from it being a bit pricey, it easily unscrews when its carried in the pocket. Other then that, I would recommend this. I will be checking out Lamy's other pens as well.
