Laurence King Magma Sketchbook - Fashion - 7.0" X 9.2" - 184 Pages

I love the idea behind this sketchbook but the big problem with it is that it does not open flat. I feel it doesn't allow you to completely utilize the graph pages opposite the blank pages. It would definitely be a much better sketchbook if it laid opened flat. The paper is also a bit toothy for my liking. I personally think the book would work better if it had smooth sheets.

Everything else is pretty great. I like the table of contents and the numbered pages. I really like the graph sheets opposite blank pages. And the information in the back of the book is very helpful and a nice edition to a sketchbook.

I really like the look of this sketchbook, but the paper is just not smooth enough for use with pens unless you love lots of texture messing with your ink.

I have started drawing in it using lead holders, and I think it's just great for putting ideas down as long as you are OK using pencil or similar implements.

I give it 4 stars because I think it could be a useful, attractive notebook for somebody who uses pencil a lot. I like the way it looks on my desk, and that's good for something. :)

There is a pocket in the back cover which is nice, but it's non-expanding (non-accordion) so its utility may be a bit limited.
