The Croquis Sketch Book is an attractive companion to artists who seek inspiration from the outdoors. Whether you are on the train or in the park, the Croquis will provide a platform for creative brainstorm. Each book features a sturdy dual coil binding and one of three types of high-quality art paper tailored for your needs.

The Croquis S161 series contains 100 sheets of 24 pound (52.3 g/ sq m) Maruman White Croquis Paper. White Croquis Paper is an economical solution to high quality drawing paper and can be used for many purposes. The rough texture is ideal for pencil work such as sketching, drawing, and even memo taking. Markers can also be used as the paper is durable and will not tear easily.

The Croquis S162 series contains 80 sheets of 28 pound (60.0 g/ sq m) Maruman Cream Cotton Paper. Cream Cotton Paper is a woven paper ideal for soft-leaded pencils and for practicing line drawings. The soft paper allows for pressure control of bold or light lines, shading, etc. The paper's weave can be used as a grid to guide drawing. The cream color gives beautiful contrast to pencil lines.

The Croquis S163 series contains 55 sheets of 45 pound (96.4 g/ sq m) Maruman Cream Cotton Paper. This high quality, long lasting alkaline paper is soft and absorbent and is ideal for water color. Since this paper is durable and keeps its texture even with the use of erasers, pencil and other drawing materials such as crayon and pastel are also suitable to be used. The woven felt surface gives drawings a natural, painted look.

The Croquis pocket series..., September 11, 2011

The Croquis pocket series S 163 is supposed to be ideal with watercolors. I used my water brush on one of the pages and the page immediately buckled and some of the color went through the back onto the next page. I'm not extremely generous with my water because I usually wet my color and put it on the lid of my container. This was using pan watercolors and Micron pens. I'm not too worried about the buckling but I don't like the paper underneath taking on color from the previous page.

Very good for labcoat..., November 6, 2011

Very good for labcoat pockets or scrub pockets. Large enough that there is space for actual meaningful information (and not just 1-2 word phrases on each line), but not too large that it's cumbersome to carry around. The exact right size.

This paper thickness is also ideal - I would compare it to somewhere between 24lb paper and thinner cardstock. It's definitely thicker than regular paper. The lighter paper varieties of this notebook are too thin for me, but others may prever them. I dislike them because even if the ink doesn't transfer to the sheet below, the imprint or indentation will.

  I really enjoy these..., November 7, 2013

I really enjoy these sketchbooks, but they are so incredibly small, too small to be worth the price? If you draw small, they're definitely for you, if you don't; settle for a regular sized sketchbook from the art store.
