The Croquis pocket series S 163 is supposed to be ideal with watercolors. I used my water brush on one of the pages and the page immediately buckled and some of the color went through the back onto the next page. I'm not extremely generous with my water because I usually wet my color and put it on the lid of my container. This was using pan watercolors and Micron pens. I'm not too worried about the buckling but I don't like the paper underneath taking on color from the previous page.

Very good for labcoat pockets or scrub pockets. Large enough that there is space for actual meaningful information (and not just 1-2 word phrases on each line), but not too large that it's cumbersome to carry around. The exact right size.

This paper thickness is also ideal - I would compare it to somewhere between 24lb paper and thinner cardstock. It's definitely thicker than regular paper. The lighter paper varieties of this notebook are too thin for me, but others may prever them. I dislike them because even if the ink doesn't transfer to the sheet below, the imprint or indentation will.

52.3 g/sq m is light (office paper is around 80 g/sq m) but I assumed since Maruman thinks it's good enough to sell it must not have any problems.

Well at first it did seem to be good, it feels sturdy and holds up well to an eraser, but after I had a couple sketches in it I noticed something. Because the paper is rather thin you can easily see through one sheet to the one below it. Now when I look at my first sketch I can see my second sketch behind it.

I love this thing as it's so perfectly compact and simple, just big enough to make drawings in, and small enough to fit in my purse. I have a regular Moleskine but I find it too heavy to carry around on a regular basis. This just fits the bill and I'll be buying more.

I was very mad when I saw this product! The pages keep on ripping apart! Don't waste your 9 bucks on this product!
