Seven years ago, I made...

Seven years ago, I made what I thought was an extravagant, frivolous gift to myself by buying a Faber Castell Perfect Pencil (UFO type.) As it turned out, this wasn't really a frivolous gift, since I still use it all the time and can extend the life of my pencils much longer than I had before. However, it's only good for getting the pencil down to a 3 or 4 inch length. I've looked for years to find another pencil extender that will let me use the pencil down to the last inch or so. And behold! the Midori brass bullet!

I love this thing. It's sleek, lightweight, tiny, and very well-made. I was afraid that I would be stuck using the (very expensive) pencils that Midori makes to go with it, since they are a little thicker than American pencils, but American pencils fit in the holder just fine. For a pencil to fit inside of the body, though, it has to be about three inches or less. The one caveat is that if you're trying to extend the life of pencils that have a ferrule or metal cap on the end, they won't work for this. I use General's layout pencils to write, so this isn't a problem for me.

I say go ahead and splurge if you are looking for a stylish way to get more out of your pencils.

A perfect little addition to my Midori notebook. Less overwhelming than the brass version.
