I was not expecting this...

I was not expecting this pen to be as nice as it was when I decided to give it a
try. I'm drawn to the "Demonstrator" style of pens because I like the idea of
showing off some of the colored inks I have. The Artista Crystal looked nice in
the pics and videos, with good reviews, so for the price I thought it might be
the perfect "Demonstrator" pen to take for a test ride. I was not disappointing.
My joy started with the nice box Monteverde supplies their pens inside of. The
pen also came with one pre-filled cartridge (Black), and one converter cartridge
already installed in the pen. I've learned to inspect the nib before doing
anything else, and did find the tines out of alignment. Not much, but even a
slight misalignment means the difference between a nice writing experience and a
very disappointing experience. Once I was happy with alignment, the medium nib
looked good (Clean, even spacing of the feed groove, etc). The next surprising
thing was the heft of the pen. I was assuming it would be rather light, but it
was not. I like a heftier feel, and this pen had a comfortable weight to it.
It's now filled with Noodler's Fox (red), and looks awesome! It fits comfortable
in my hand and seems well balanced fully inked up and cap posted. The writing
experience was enjoyable. The nib wrote smoothly, with the wet flow I would
expect from a medium nib. I liked this pen so well, that I've already purchased
a second one, and have it filled with De Atramentis Violet (purple) ink. By the
way, the nib on that pen was slightly out of alignment as well. I recommend this
pen for anyone who wants a good "Demonstrator" for a good price!
