This notebook is definitely a conversation starter, and the paper is so unique.
I did some testing of my own on one of the pages in the back of the book, just
to see what writing tools were best to use on the paper. What I found was gel
ink pens less than 0.5 mm worked the best, the smaller the nib the better.
Ballpoint pens came in second and roller ball pens and pencils were a no go. The
paper isn't as absorbent as regular bond, so the ink kind of floats on the
surface until it dries. I'm left handed and saw that the roller ball pens
smeared, a lot. Pencil also didn't make the cut because I did an eraser test
with a polymer eraser and rubber eraser and saw that the lead did not erase well
at all. I did a few pencil sketches on my test pages and didn't have an issue
with using pencil on the paper, however, the fact that erasing doesn't work
defeats the point of using a pencil.

This is such an interesting material! I love the silky feel of the paper.
However, it is a bit temperamental when it comes to inks. Normal ballpoint can
sometimes make an impression, and lots of other thin pens I like (Staedtler
triplus fineliner) will bleed and leave halos around my words. It does work
great with Sakura Microns though. It's fun, but I think I'll keep using
Leuchtturms for day-to-day notekeeping.

Very unique feel to the paper! If you press hard, the paper has a rubbery
stretch to it, yet is silky-smooth with most pens and pencils. It's hard to
crease and tear, which is great if you tend to abuse your books. Since the
paper doesn't absorb ink very much, I did find that some brush pens and many
fountain pen inks won't properly dry (or at least take a long time to dry), and
I ended up with lots of smearing. Inks do look beautiful on this, though! I am
currently using mostly oil based drawing pencils with this book, and having a
blast! They don't smear and erase well, and blending appears velvety smooth.
Overall a unique and wonderful writing experience!

I love this so much... it's a great conversation piece - paper made of stone!
And what amazing paper, too - waterproof, tear-resistant, and smooth as silk.
The incredible turquoise color of the cover makes me smile every time I see it,
and I have a hard time taking my eyes off it. Ok, I'm geeking out over a
notebook, but it's seriously just that great. If you go fan-girl over this stuff
like I do, you won't regret this purchase.
