DescriptionSpecificationsQuestions & Answers
Every year the Japanese send postcards to family, friends and business associates for the New Year. Called "nengajo", the postcard greetings are bedecked with beautiful Japanese handwriting. Many companies outsource to agencies where professional people (usually retired individuals with beautiful brush handwriting) write names and addresses. The tradition results in a wide variety of high-quality brush pens and markers available in the Japanese stationery market.

The Ohto Fude Ball pens are actually ball pens made to write like brush pens. It has broad lines great for writing names and addresses on postcards but writes smoothly and lusciously like a brush. The ball tip makes it easier to control and use the pen for writing compared to a brush pen.

Lovely pen but I prefer the black ink. This ink is not a deep red like I expected it to be. I purchased the black fude ball and that one has a rich black ink.

I waited almost a month for this pen and must have gotten a bad one because it sometimes like to skip and also is not as lush and thick as the black one I bought in the same size and brand.

I was really looking forward to some beautiful bold lines.

For anyone that loves a big, and I seriously mean big, bold line. It IS prone to skipping like someone mentioned, but that's a minor problem, IMO.

I love the width of this pen's writing "nib". I have it in black as well--wish there were an array of colors because I'd buy them all!
