Just as the Castle Rook in chess is one of the most versatile chess pieces, the Ohto Rook ballpoint pen is one of the most versatile pens you can have in your collection. The compact pen is easy to use and has a soft shape displaying a beautiful symmetry of form. Bypassers will be intrigued by the unique look. When closed, the pocket-sized pen measures only 4.1 inches (10.3 cm) long. But with the cap posted on the back of the pen, the pen measures a comfortable 5.9 inch (15 cm) length great for writing. The needle-point ballpoint pen tip measures at 0.7 mm, but produces a fairly thin, smooth line. Additional body colors available.

Pen dimensions: Approximately 4.1 inches (10.3 cm) long when capped, 5.9 inches (15 cm) long when cap is posted on back of pen, and no wider than 0.4 inches (11 mm) in diameter.

Didnt realize how small it was until i received it. Kinda costly for a tiny hiding pen, but cute. Only benefit is that I can use the zebra zmulsion refills with a small snip off the end of the refill.

Another gem from OHTO, the masters of quirky pen and pencil designs. The rook is an exercise in form shaping, so there are no complex parts to misfire – you just have to remember how long the cap is, pull it off and start writing, posted or otherwise. In person, this pen is MINISCULE, and yet it manages to contain a full Parker style refill, unlike the OHTO G-Barrel. Slight minus: when posted, the lower edge of the cap may feel a bit sharp where it contacts the hand during writing.

An odd little pen, but is solid all around for everyday use. The pen itself is very nice, solid, and sturdy metal body that is not heavy on the hand but not extremely light. Another perk, compared to the pilot cavalier, is that the pen is balanced with the cap on or off. The pen ink cartridge is the oddest part as it states it is .7mm, which is true as the ball is .7mm, but the pen writes at a .2 width. As for the orange, compared to the orange ohoto tasche rollerball, this is more of a burnt orange, where as the ohto tasche is more of an orange juice orange.

The only complaint that I can give on the pen, but it is also user error at times, is that the cap does not always stay on the pen. Unlike the tasches, which has a rubber ring to keep the cap in place, the rook has an expanding ring in the cap to hold it. In other words if you do not push the cap all the way down, which is a guessing game, the pen cap will come off rather quickly. However, as stated this is more user error, in the beginning using this pen this will happen more, but in time when you know how far the cap goes you wont have a problem.

The last note I will make, is that this pen uses the parker-g2 style refill so if you prefer the OHTO gel refills (pG2 style), which is no longer on this site, they are compatible as well for this pen.
